For eight years the MSU CIP program assisted communities in bringing government and business together for joint crisis management by providing training, consultation and support. The BCA will similarly focus on enhancing business continuity, government continuity of operations, security, risk management, crisis management and emergency preparedness. Through the alliance, MSU and Council representatives will conduct research, help design new programs, conduct high-quality training, exercise plans, and coordinate public/private partnerships. Dr. Ed McGarrell, Director of the School of Criminal Justice, commented on the alliance by saying, “We are extremely excited about this partnership with the Council. This provides an outstanding vehicle for connecting MSU’s research and education programs to the security community. It will help focus our research and education on the emerging challenges facing security executives with the goal of solving critical problems.”
Longtime MSU CIP staff members Rad Jones, Jerry Miller and Brit Weber will continue to play an important role in this new public/private partnership effort. Their private sector and law enforcement background and expertise and experience in crisis management, security, public/private partnerships, provide a balanced understanding of needs and capabilities to solve problems.
