Practitioner Based Educational Resources Now Available to Security Students
(LAS VEGAS, NV: April 10, 2013): The Security Executive Council (SEC) is partnering with Elsevier Publishing on a variety of security resources to help educate the security leaders of today and tomorrow. SEC and Elsevier launched their Risk Management Portfolio at ISC West in Las Vegas.
"This partnership disseminates our collective knowledge to a wider audience. This provides opportunities for the next generation to build on the experience of current security leaders," said Francis D'Addario, Emeritus Faculty, Security Executive Council and former vice president of Partner and Asset Protection, Starbucks Coffee Company.
The SEC is dedicated to filling identified gaps, changing and enhancing the industry based on rigorous research and sharing it as broadly as possible within the industry. Their educational resources provide real-world solutions and "how-to" guidelines that will equip educators, seasoned security practitioners and students with risk mitigation strategies and tactics that have been validated by leading security and risk executives.
"The SEC is in a unique position to provide this type of educational opportunity," says Bob Hayes, Managing Director of the SEC. "For the past ten years, we've worked with security industry leaders to develop actionable and relevant resources." Now the Council is working with business schools around the country, including the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, to provide this knowledge to the academic community. "The Elsevier partnership is the next step in equipping security veterans and students with proven practices from the field."
The portfolio features digital and print publications. Presentations with audio narration offer proven practices and concepts for training and professional development from leaders in the security field. Other resources range from books that provide in-depth examinations on security and risk mitigation topics to concise reports on key security industry issues and trends.
Ten publications are now available with at least 15 more planned for later in 2013. The portfolio can be purchased as individual titles on the Elsevier Store or from the Elsevier Risk Management & Security Collection on ScienceDirect.
