SEC Provides Scholarships to University Partners for the Next Generation of Security Leaders

January 13, 2022 – The Security Executive Council (SEC) will continue its work of preparing the next generation of security leaders by offering up to $7,500 in scholarships to qualifying students enrolled in specific academic programs of study starting the 2022-2023 academic year.

Fostering continuing education and excellence in the security field has long been a focus of the SEC. This new scholarship program builds upon existing partnerships with three institutions recognized for excellent programs in security, risk, and intelligence. The scholarships will be awarded to students from the following academic programs:

• Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business’ Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Information Security and Assurance or the Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development's Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
• University of South Carolina – Darla Moore College of Business’ Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance
• Mercyhurst University’s Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies or Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security

This scholarship is another exciting opportunity to continue in our quest to train the next generation of intelligence professionals,” said John Olszowka, Ph.D., Dean, Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences, Mercyhurst University.

Scholarship awards will be made in accordance with the universities’ criteria and SEC input regarding security leadership potential. The SEC Scholarship Committee is made up of SEC staff, successful former security executives, and current security practitioners from well-known corporations, as well as university faculty. Applications must be completed by March 1, 2022 and will be awarded to selected students by June 1, 2022.
