In his 20-year career with Target Corporation, including 13 years as Vice President of Assets Protection and Corporate Security, Mr. Brekke transformed the company’s security model and aligned its business strategy to better mitigate enterprise security risk, protect the brand and provide a safe environment for Target across the globe.
He also created and instituted innovative frameworks with law enforcement and public safety that include Target & Blue, Safe City, the Twin Cities Security Partnership (TCSP), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Law Enforcement Business Fellowship. Additionally, Mr. Brekke was a founding member of Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
In 2014, he was appointed to the FBI’s Director’s Office to establish the first Office of Private Sector, which functions as the FBI’s primary liaison with the American business community.
“Brad has been a leading industry practitioner for years and is well known for the public-private partnership programs he established as Target’s CSO,” said Bob Hayes, SEC managing director. “As director of the FBI’s office of private sector programs, he accelerated closing the partnership gap and expanding possibilities adding value to both the public and private sectors. The SEC is very fortunate to have him join our Faculty, where he will specialize in security program transformation and developing an executive-level business case for corporate security.”
The SEC is the only security risk management firm to exclusively use former corporate security senior executives from leading Fortune 500 companies as our faculty of consultants. Emeritus faculty are subject matter experts who use their experience and knowledge to help other security leaders excel.
