The June/July survey provided interesting insights into the frequency of workplace violence incidents and methods of gathering and reporting security-related data to management. One particularly noteworthy finding: Only 31% of respondents overall gather security program data in order to create statistical reports to present to senior management. In contrast, 100% of Security Executive Council members who took the survey reported having such data-gathering programs in place.
This finding highlights the importance of the International Security Research Database. Measuring and demonstrating the value of security can enhance the influence of the security program within the organization, and the International Security Research Database can help security professionals accomplish this. The more input each survey receives, the stronger the benchmarking information the database will provide.
Those who take the survey will be entered into a drawing for a copy of the book Measures and Metrics in Corporate Security. Information about this title can be found here.
