Phil Hummel is a proven practice leader who has demonstrated innovative and measured ROI, while protecting brand reputation. His measured net contributions, as an internal and external program advisor, exceed millions of dollars per engagement. His leading-edge operational loss prevention, P&L assessment, and risk management analytical skills, incrementally improve health, safety, and security casualty claims frequency and severity through all-hazards risk mitigation and operational cost optimization.
Phil founded the Loss Prevention business function at Starbucks Coffee and recruited his successor. He directed a profit improvement team that researched, designed, and implemented the first Point Of Sale exception-based-reporting program in the industry. He was recognized by the Chief Financial Officer and leadership when his audited program added an audited 200BPS to the bottom line. He has directed investigative protocols for additional $ millions in annual, after cost, asset recovery.
Phil advises globally recognized brands in implementing anomaly and exception reporting. His restaurant quality assurance operations experience has served him well. He formerly was a Director, Franchise Support Services at KFC. Phil served a 3-year term on the Board of the Restaurant Security Loss Prevention Association (RLSP) and was the president of the association. He additionally advised ASIS International Retail Council and has presented as a subject matter expert at the National Retail Federation Loss Prevention summit and other events.
Phil holds a BA Business Administration from Western Washington University where he supported the advisory board for the College of Business and Economics. He also holds a Leadership Certificate for International Security from Georgetown University. As an Emeritus Faculty member for the Security Executive Council, he is a lifelong learner and Collective Knowledge® risk mitigation innovation collaborator.
